I went with some friends maybe a month or 2 ago....we didn't even get past the front gate because someone threw a rock at my head and 3 other people saw someone hiding in the bushes and another person dressed in all black sitting behind the front gate...
we all ran back into our cars, and a car drove up next to us, slowed down and drove by all 3 cars...like it was looking inside...then it turned around and sped off
we just sat there for a few minutes as one of the other drivers in another car used his night vision goggles to look around, he swears he saw someone get up and walk away from the gate...
I'm afraid to go back...

Don't let them scare you away! They're just drunken teenagers.

not true kitty these people are at times dumb hicks that reside there and they might be carrying they great confederate grandpa's musket....lol...no seriously take caution when in this canyon...carry any kind of self-defense weapon that will not get you thrown in jail for having it on your body or in your vehicle.

I haven't gone there in over a year but I used to go all the time both at day and at night. I've driven all up the canyons and even through the forest trails all the way up to the top of the peak. There's some creepy stuff out there. Don't know for sure if it's paranormal and I've never been threatened, per se, but it's definitely not a place you want to travel to alone. There's a gate at the end of Silverado Canyon road that leads into the forest. Sometimes it's open and sometimes it's closed. A few years back we went on Halloween night. The gate was closed so we parked our cars there and decided to walk in. It was a group of about ten of us. For the most part we were trying to be quiet and cautious but my buddy's new girlfriend was screwing around with her flashlight. I told her to turn it off but she kept flashing it around. All of a sudden we heard the BEEP BEEP of a car horn and we heard yells, Like YEEHAW or something to that effect. I told her to turn it off immediately and we all went running down the trail. As it was getting closer to us we jumped down the ravine and hid there. The truck passed over us, stopped, flashed floodlights looking for us, and left when it didn't see us. We waited for awhile before turning back. The weird thing is that we didn't know how that truck got on the trail. The Gate was closed which is why we left our cars at the gate. There are no side roads or anything. It's just forest. Anyways, aside from that we've heard disembodied laughter, I've explored some of the caves there. I haven't gone to far in because there are candles in there which obviously means they're inhabited.

Hey, where are the caves? that sounds awesome!
but, i think i know where they might be and it was blocked off.
the person driving is the guy that lives on the property.

There are a few people who do have keys for the gate to open it. The people who live there and a few Sheriffs do. One time I was there during the day time and a white Chevy Silverado truck passed us as we were going down the trail. He paused as he drove by us and then proceeded up to the gate. We saw him open it, drive through it, and close it. Then about an hour later after we had walked a few miles, we turned back. On our way back, that same truck passed us again on his way back in.

I was there just a week ago and i also saw a SUV pass us on a trail but i didnt get any of these intimidation tactics or anything. The ppl in the car actually waved at us and when we got back to the gate it was locked...so if this is a person that lives back there since they mustve locked the gate, why didnt they intimidate us or anything.? Are all the ppl back there nuts and want ppl to leave or do some ppl not care?

Dream Awake..... i just recently went last night, and there was a red truck (either a toyota or ford) near the gate. it had its lights on so we figured it was leaving, but as we parked our car the lights turned off. We had a group of 8 boys armed with wooden and alluminum bats. It was about 9 30 when we were about a mile and a half maybe 2 miles into our walk, and we heard voices yelling at us to turn around and leave, but i wasnt sure if they were from behind or to the side. Then we heard an extremely loud BOOM like a gun shot, and they yelled some more. At this point we didnt know what to do, but we think it was the people in the red truck. As we get back to our car we realize that our tires are flat, but only on the left side of the car. We pump it up, but the air leaks out. It turns out that they slashed the stems connected to the tires of the car. The red truck could possibly be a resident, but we arent sure. If anybody sees a red truck near BLACK STAR let me know.

I went up to Black Star, Silverado, and Holy Jim Canyons quite often for a good 4 years. Only time we got stopped by anyone was by a sherriff when we were up there sometime past midnight one night. We got chased through Modjeska Canyon by a white truck, but my friend who is now in the Navy and myself noticed him u-turn in the middle of Santiago Canyon Road behind us, so we switched back and he was going the other way and when I saw him hit the brakes we u-turned again and lost him up in the road that goes up the back of Modjeska by all the houses. I know gang bangers used to go up there to most of those canyons and just drunken tennaged fools, but I never ran into anyone and the "cult worshipper" and "KKK" stories are greatly exaggerated.

The residents around BSC are older folks who believe that they own the rights to the land solely and will protect their assets with intimidation.
My friends and I have been chased out with metal pipe weilding "hicks" before, and there are a lot of people who think its hilarious to go out there and squat to scare people.
Squatters are there on the weekends like friday-sunday nights.
If you want to go at a time when they most likely wont be there id reccommend a tuesday or wednesday.

Some of my friends and I want to go at night, but then we're young (around 15 years old) so we don't really have a ride so get there, or the equipment.
By the way, if we do go, we don't plan on destroying property or bothering the residence, we just want to go there for an adventure.
I've heard that there are little black creatures walking human-like that walk around in a line, and I was wondering what they were?

I know what stories you're talking about. I read about it online around the time I started going up there. Allegedly there's small vaguely (I emphasize that) human shaped figures that have been seen more or less marching formation that allegedly are the spirits of the conquistadores. Now, I've never seen anything like that, though I have had a fair amount of supernatural happenings at Black Star and through out the canyons. I suppose it's theoretically possible, but I would guess it's another case of a story about something that actually happened being exaggerated and becoming a borderline urban legend.

Duckey thats my truck i go hikeing and bmxing back there once a week at some jumps that me and my friends built we also herd those voices and a gun shot but we just ignored it because we here it all the time it was probally art tuttle and we saw u why did u have batts u guys only went half way down the road when u came back up the road we hid in the bushes because we thought u were being chased by art. He has slashed out my truck tires before and destroyed r jumps like 12 F***ing time it was probally him. he cut the stems on my truck also. You dont need bats because that gives him a reason to shoot at u and if the sheriff see's u, you will get in huge trouble more then u no.
