Synopsis
Physiological Investigator and writer, Mike Wolf embarks on a journey to Black Star Where he investigates the murders orchestrated by Darrel Willis a brutal serial killer, for his latest murder mystery novel. He becomes involved with the town and why Darrel was so willing to kill. He believes that Darrel is innocent and has less than 24 hours to stop the execution. Mike's journey leads him back to Black Star Canyon, the small broken down old town where Darrel Willis grew up. His first interview was with Charlie, an old childhood friend of Darrel's. Charlie told Mike that Darrel had become, like a younger brother to him after the death of his parents at the age of 7. He went on to tell Mike that the crushing blow seemed to be when the love of Darrel's life, Mindy Barlow was found brutally raped, murdered, her body dumped like garbage in the canyon. From that day on, something in Darrel seemed to snap. He became hostile and violent. Charlie offered to take Mike to the home where Darrel had lived, even though it had long been locked by the authorities. Charlie took Mike to the old deserted house where Darrel had lived before his incarceration. Mike begins to explore the house when there is a loud crash. Charlie produces a revolver from his back pocket. They exit the front door to find a dead animal hanging from the tree branch, blood dripping onto the hood of Charlies car.
