I was at blackstar (jan 15. 2010) with two others and it was about 1-2 am...well into the trail roughly about 45 mins after the first two section of the private property gate on the right....we came upon a danger hazardous sign signed on the bottom by "andrew c. edwards"....a little further ahead there was a large box object roughly the size of an SUV car covered by a large sheet...just above that was a single small green light, once we got closer to the large box object the motion sensored displayed a large red box of lights from it...and we got scared and ran back! but previously one of the guys with us mentioned that was never there before...has any one else encountered with that? is it new? I think its a security motion censor or camera......I thought the whole trail was open to the public!!! any info?

Me and my two friends encountered the same thing at like 9-10 o'clock at night. It was quite interesting though because we didn't run we waited to see if anyone would respond to the siren but no one did. Instead it shut off after a few minutes, as did the light that turned on when it went off. The thing we found interesting though that was when we were walking back to we approached the same spot the siren did not go off this time... I am pretty sure though it is just set up to keep people from messing with whatever is underneath that tarp.

Me and a friend went for a day hike a few days ago there during the week a wed.anyway there was workers up where you are talking about working a fence.if you read the sign on the left side of the road right down from the spot you talked about there is a sign that says, enjoy your walk or bike ride.just stay on the trail and watch for mountain lions.the sign is signed by andrew c. edwards..there is some camaras he his putting in and lighting at the gate that goes up to his place..as long as you stay on the path it is fine.and thats what that sign is telling you he has a electric fence on the left and right side of the road...i have never been back in there at night though but during the day it was a nice hike no one there but some workers on the fence in trucks.looks scary at nite i would bet..jp
