Activity! 
We should have a club or something that meets bi-monthly and goes back into the canyon late at night. We may even be able to get the Cleveland National Forest to open the gate for us too. I should get on that ;)

Only remotely bad experiences I've had in any of the canyons happened to be with groups, thought not because of groups. You just have to choose your groups wisely. Smaller groups comprised of intelligent, quick thinking individuals are perfectly find to go with, so long as you're careful and obey all laws.

Lucky for me when I was with my core group, we were safe and careful and respectful of the area. By core group I mean, me my brother and maybe one or two trustworthy friends. I would recommend against going with a group any larger than 4.

lol. I've been up there with chicks, and some were fine to take and some weren't. One got mad at a joke or something, if I remember correctly, and ended up boxing my ear while I was driving and almost ran us off the road. That's the kind who I don't take up there after that.
